Baker's Dozen: February
Not to be constrained by self-imposed institutional guidelines, February’s Baker’s Dozen features just ten tracks as opposed to the usual thirteen. These ten are those tracks I’ve either been listening to a lot over the past few weeks or those that I’ve fallen instantly in love with. Either way, I hope you enjoy them. Kavinsky - Road Game Last year Kavinsky reminded...

oohbrilliant: We love Nzca/Lines. This is a session recorded at Lo Recordings a few months back. Brill. The second single to be taken from the forthcoming album by NZCA LINES is another slice of sweet electro R’n’B. Like all the best pop, this tune has an ineffable sense of longing with a touch of melancholy. nzca-lines.com

video: Megafortress - Green Child
disconaivete: Software (the Mexican Summer imprint run by Ford & Lopatin) will release the self-titled debut EP of Megafortress on January 31. Green Child, taken from that EP, is a very delicate song with a falsetto that reaches heaven, a bit of a less hi-fi (but not lo-fi) version of Active Child with the water’y elements of Balam Acab. Watch the Grant Nitsch-directed video for Green...

Help us make a Music Bloggers Map
guardianmusic: Shamelessly ripping off this map here, we thought we’d try to set up a collaborative map to show what areas of the UK (and elsewhere) people are writing music blogs about. So, if you’re writing about your local music scene, let us know by adding yourself to this map. To do so, sign in to Google, click on this link and click ‘edit’ to add your placemark with a description of, and...

Black Keys 'Lonely Boy' video still funny
After two weeks… Still cannot stop watching this hilarious video. I think it helps that the song is really catchy too, but this guy’s dancing is a breath of fresh air. All people should dance like this from now on, always. ‘Lonely Boy’ is the first track from The Black Keys seventh studio album El Camino, which is due out in just 15 days. December 6th cannot come fast...

Well, I’m pleased to say that Hotcakes have got two pairs of VIP tickets to give away to the latest live event featuring The Boxettes. Alongside will be a selection of up-and-coming British urban pop acts including Clement Marfo...

DELS gets the Last.fm pop-up treatment
Back in August, we covered Ghostpoet doing a pop-up session for Last.fm and HP. We did this because we love Ghostpoet and now another artist we love, namely DELS, has done one too. Above is the video from the session which includes a fairly insightful interview with the man himself where he discusses performing in front of his family for the first time and the pride he felt at seeing his first...

Azealia Banks - 212
This might disappear soon as it includes a yet-to-cleared sample, but until that point, today’s Moving Monday feature is this video from Azealia Banks. Forget Kreayshawn and think Spank Rock for 2011, this is what female electro-rap should sound like. Not sure ‘electro-rap’ is actually a thing but that’s what I’m using. Enjoy. By the way, it’s definitely...

Kele - What Did I Do
This week’s Moving Monday post goes to a guy who’s latest photoshoot looks like it belongs in the pages of Attitude rather than here. However, it’s always good to see Kele back even if he is a bit naked. Below is the video for his new track ‘What Did I Do’ which features Lucy Taylor on vocals and will form the lead single from his forthcoming EP The Hunter. The...
